How often are new requisitions/positions opened on the career web site?
The Fresh Market will always have available those positions where we are continuously searching for qualified candidates.  These positions will appear on our job posting site with aged posting dates; however, openings within these job families change daily.  We encourage interested candidates to apply to for consideration.

Additional requisitions/positions are opened on The Fresh Market career site as needed.  The site changes daily with the opening of new opportunities within all of The Fresh Market Departments.

How long will it take me to apply for an open position?
Candidates should allow 40 to 45 minutes to complete both the candidate profile and appropriate assessment for the opening.  All candidates must complete all sections of the application in order to be considered.  Each opening will require candidates to complete a general profile with the option to attach any appropriate documents, complete qualifying questions, and an assessment.

Our recommendation is to allow at a minimum 40 minutes to complete the following actions:

  • Create a personal user name and password
  • Create a personal profile to include but not limited to, contact information, skill sets, qualifications, and work history
  • Search and apply for positions of interest
  • Complete qualifying questions
  • Complete appropriate assessments per position

Who has access to my data once I complete an application?
Once a candidate has completed an application for an opening the hiring manager will have access to the data as well as The Fresh Market Human Resources and Recruitment Departments.

How do I know if The Fresh Market received my application?
At the end of the application each candidate will need to submit their application for consideration.  Once a candidate submits the application the system will verify that the application has been received by the appropriate parties at The Fresh Market through an e-mail notification the candidate.

How do I apply for hourly positions?
All openings for The Fresh Market can be seen on The Fresh Market career site.  In addition, all candidates applying for hourly openings can visit the store of interest and complete an on-line application at the store.  Please allow 35 to 40 minutes to complete the entire process.

How do I apply for management positions?
All management openings for The Fresh Market can be seen on The Fresh Market career site.  For management positions candidates are welcome to apply from any remote location with access to the internet.  At this time no management applications can be received on-site at our store locations.  The Fresh Market does not accept paper resumes.  Please allow 40 to 45 minutes to complete the entire process.

The Fresh Market is committed to development and advancement of their employees.  All Store Manager Positions are filled from within the company.  We do not accept candidates for Store Manager Openings; however, we do post Assistant Store Manager Positions externally.

What is the difference between part-time and full-time?
The Fresh Market has positions that are considered full-time and positions that are considered part time.  Positions that require 30 plus hours per week are considered full-time.

I have a resume already prepared.  Why should I complete a profile?
All candidates will be required to complete a general profile on-line; however, we do supply our candidates the options with attaching a resume or any appropriate and relevant document to their profile.  We strongly encourage all candidates to complete the general profile in its entirety.  This better enables The Fresh Market recruiters and hiring managers to identify those candidates that may match our qualification requirements.  Also, the system will allow candidates to update their profile as often as appropriate.  This will ensure that The Fresh Market has on file the most accurate and up-to-date information on our candidates.

Candidates may learn of openings within The Fresh Market by visiting our career web site at their convenience.  In addition, our on line application process allows candidates to elect to receive e-mail notifications from The Fresh Market when openings become available that may match their interest and qualifications.  Candidates interested in hourly store operational positions may also visit any location to inquire about current openings.

Yes. Candidates are encouraged to apply for the position or positions that are of interest.  We encourage candidates to read our job description and requirements for the position to ensure that the job requirements are of interest prior to applying.

What if I complete a job search and there are no jobs available?  May I still complete a profile?
As openings within The Fresh Market change daily we highly recommend that all candidates complete a general job profile even though there may not be an opening available immediately.  The system will allow candidates to elect to receive an e-mail notification from The Fresh Market that states an opening that matches the criteria specified in the candidate’s profile has become available.  Candidates then have the opportunity to update their profile and submit their application for that specific opening.

How long will The Fresh Market keep my profile active?
The Fresh Market will retain candidate information for one year from the last updated information.  We strongly encourage candidates to update their profiles every 10 to 12 months or as appropriate.

Candidates may update their profile as needed and are encourage to do so.  Candidates will need to retain their user name and password in order to enter the system an update their profile.  It is critical that all profile information is accurate and up to date as new positions become available on a daily basis.

What is the assessment process?
The Fresh Market requires that all candidates complete an on-line assessment as appropriate to the opening.  Each assessment is designed to take 20 to 25 minutes.  All candidates must complete the assessment in order to be consider for any opening within The Fresh Market.  The assessment process is to ensure that The Fresh Market has the opportunity to best match the qualifications of the candidates to the appropriate position.

Why does The Fresh Market require candidates to take an Assessment?
The Fresh Market has in place a complete process for the selection of new employees.  The Fresh Market recognizes the importance of having a talented, diverse, and professional employee base in order for  both the company and the employees to be successful.  Therefore, The Fresh Market has implemented a validated process to best identify the most qualified candidate for the position.  At The Fresh Market we only select the most qualified candidates for our openings.  To assist us in that process we have partnered with experts in the field to develop validated assessments for our openings.  All candidates must complete the appropriate assessment in order to be considered for any opening within The Fresh Market.

What benefits are offered by The Fresh Market?
The Fresh Market is committed to providing a package of standard and optional benefits designed to have the flexibility to meet the needs of our people regardless of their personal life situations.

Our basic package for all fulltime employees provides medical, prescription medicine and dental coverage through the extensive national networks of BlueCross and BlueShield and Delta Dental.   If needed, this coverage may also be extended to spouses or domestic partners, and children.

We also cover all full time employees with basic life insurance, short term disability and long term disability.  In addition for those who require additional coverage we offer the option of increased term life insurance and personal accident insurance on you and your spouse/domestic partner and children.

For our part-time workers we offer low cost medical, prescription medicine, dental and life insurance through the Starbridge program.

How do I find out about new store openings?
The Fresh Market website provides candidates the opportunity to view all existing locations and explore our growth.  Candidates may access the upcoming store list from the career section of our site under The Fresh Market Growth tab.   We are currently growing 25% a year or opening 15 to 20 new stores annually.

What are the departments in the stores?
The Fresh Market store operations may have openings in Store Management, Floral/Gift, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery, Deli, Coffee/Candy, Bulk, Grocery, and Front End.  There are a variety of positions within each department.

What are the departments in the corporate office?
The Fresh Market corporate offices are located in Greensboro, North Carolina.  There are several departments in Greensboro to include, Human Resources, Business Strategy, Marketing, General Counsel, Information Systems, Accounting and Finance, Real Estate and Development, Construction and Maintenance and Recruitment.  All available positions within the corporate office are available for viewing by candidates on our site.

How do I tell a friend about openings within The Fresh Market?
The Fresh Market application system provides candidates the opportunity to send a friend, relative, or co-worker an open position directly from the system.  Should a candidate determine that a current open may be of interest to a friend, relative, or co-worker they have the opportunity under the “Send This Job to a Friend” button to send an e-mail with verbiage and the position directly to that individual’s mail.  The system will require the candidate’s e-mail address and, the recipient’s e-mail address in order for the notification to be sent.

Will I be contacted once I complete my profile?
Unfortunately, The Fresh Market is unable to contact each candidate that expresses an interest in employment due to the high volume of applications we receive.  However, The Fresh Market will contact those candidates that best match the qualifications and requirements of the position.

What is the process for hourly positions?
Candidates that are interested in applying for an hourly position within our store locations may do so in the store or remotely.  The Fresh Market will require that all candidates complete a general job profile, complete the appropriate assessment, and submit their application for the position of interest.  Should a candidate’s profile, qualifications, and skills match the requirements for the position of interest The Fresh Market Store Management team will contact the candidate to begin the interview process.

What is the process for management positions?
Candidates that are interested in applying for a management position within our store location must complete the application remotely.  The Fresh Market will require that all candidates complete a general profile, complete the appropriate assessment, and submit their application for the position of interest.  Should a candidate’s profile, qualifications, and skills match the requirements for the position of interest The Fresh Market Recruitment team and/or Management team will contact the candidate to begin the interview process.  The Fresh Market will only consider candidates that have previous General Manager experience in a related industry, managed 20 plus employees, and be willing and able to relocate within 24 months for promotional opportunities.

The Fresh Market Operational Management team will contact the candidate to begin the interview process.  The interview process will consist of multiple interviews with different levels of management from Recruitment to Regional Vice Presidents.

What is the process for corporate positions?
Candidates that are interested in applying for corporate positions must complete the application remotely.  The Fresh Market does not accept paper resumes at the Corporate Offices.  The Fresh Market will require that all candidates complete a general profile, complete the appropriate assessment, and submit their application for the position of interest.  Should a candidate’s profile, qualifications, and skills match the requirements for the position of interest The Fresh Market Management team will contact the candidate to begin the interview process.
